It's so wild how many of the movies of our youth have offensive words and disturbing tropes. It was accepted back then; even though we knew it was "bad", we didn't have the same push for education about such things as we do now.

One of my favorites in this type of genre was Real Genius. The character Mitch is 15 years old and a much older woman tries to seduce him before he ends up kissing a college aged Jordan. It is one of those moments I didn’t really think about, but in retrospect it was very creepy.

I should mention that RotN was filmed in Tucson, Arizona where I currently reside. I had a number of friends who lived near some of the “house” locations. https://youtu.be/At_l8CHvde4?si=wrygJvkR3EqpHpZj

I never saw Real Genius but what you’re pointing out seems to be another common cringey thing 😆 It’s all sorts of icky that Lisa makes out with 15 year old Wyatt in Weird Science.

Have you visited the RotN filming locations? That would be fun

I’ve lived in Tucson for just over 25 years now, so I’ve been to or are familiar with almost all of the ones that are still around. It’s kinda trippy seeing them in person.

Have you watched Andrew McCarthy's docu on Hulu about the Brat Pack? SO WELL DONE and talk about a HUGE nostalgia trip. John Hughes NAILED about what it was like to be a high school teenagers in the 80s.

I haven’t seen that yet because we don’t have Hulu but so many people discussed it on social media I feel like I got the gist of it. I would like to watch it eventually!
