Last year my wife took a business trip to Minnesota and I tagged along. We stayed in the hotel connected to the Mall of America and had a great time exploring the area. (World's Biggest Candy Store? I'm in!) During our trip, my wife managed to get us tickets to tour Paisley Park. I'm the same age as you and grew up listening to all the greats of the 80s. I assumed the tour would be interesting, and it was, but I didn't expect to find myself standing in front of the keyboard Prince recorded the Purple Rain album on and start to cry when they began playing isolated keyboard tracks from the album. Seeing his shoes and all that was neat, but standing in front of that keyboard in the middle of his studio room was like standing before god. A religious experience, bathed in purple. Thanks for sharing your stories.
Prince is one of those artists the likes of which will never be again.
Very true ❤️
Thanks for reading my Substack, Jon! ☺️
Of course, Liz! It's my pleasure.
Great piece, brought back some cool memories. ❤️
Thanks Chris! That’s what I hope for when I’m writing ❤️

I went to college in St.Paul 87-91. I still remember many nights hanging out at 1st Avenue hoping Prince would show up.
